Job Description

To lead and direct the overall Business Architecture function, ensuring alignment between strategic objectives, organisational structure, operating model, and enterprise architecture (including AI). This role is critical for driving large-scale business transformation and establishing best practices for architectural blueprinting, analysis, and implementation while acting as the primary organisational advocate for exceptional customer and colleague experience.

Key Tasks/Areas of Responsibility

  • Target Operating Model and Business Blueprinting: Oversee the definition, development, and implementation of the Target Operating Model and organisational structures to support the company’s strategic agenda, working closely with the Strategy & Transformation Director.
  • Enterprise Architecture Governance: Direct the Enterprise Architecture team, including the Principal and Principle AI Architects, to define and govern the blueprints for business, data, application, and technology architectures, ensuring all technical designs are robust, scalable, and aligned with future business needs and deliver an intuitive and successful experience for end-users.
  • AI Strategy and Integration: Lead the design principles for integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities into the business model, processes, and technical architecture, ensuring responsible and value-driven deployment.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Manage, mentor, and develop a diverse team of specialists, including Operating Model Leads, Enterprise Architects, and Business Analysts, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture.
  • Customer and Colleague Experience Design: Define, govern, and embed human-centric design principles across all business and enterprise blueprints, ensuring that transformation initiatives prioritise customer value, usability, accessibility, and colleague efficiency and well-being.
  • Impact Measurement and Feedback: Establish and monitor metrics (KPIs) to track the success of architectural and operating model changes based on qualitative and quantitative improvements in customer satisfaction and colleague productivity/experience.
  • Business Requirement Translation: Ensure the Business Analyst function effectively captures, analyses, and translates complex business requirements into tangible architectural blueprints and change initiatives.
  • Risk and Quality Assurance: Establish quality gates and design assurance processes to mitigate risks associated with organisational, operating model, and architectural changes.
  • Business Architecture Authority & Governance: Serve as the organisational authority on business architecture principles and methodologies for strategic transformation.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with senior stakeholders across all functions to secure buy-in and resources for strategic design initiatives.
  • Resource Management: Manage the budget and resource allocation for the Design function.
  • Future Direction & Innovation: Identify emerging trends in technology, operating models, and business architecture to continually refine the strategic direction of the organisation.
  • Executive Communication: Lead communication efforts regarding design roadmaps, progress, and outcomes to the executive leadership team.

Maintain training records for all employees. Provide adequate and competent supervision to maintain a safe working environment. Work in collaboration with all business units to meet Health & Safety objectives. Record all work-related accidents, incidents, ill health, and hazards in accordance with company policies and procedures. Assist in investigating accidents and incidents within the workplace. Co-operate with periodic inspections and audits of the workplace and/or equipment in accordance with legislation and the H&S management system.

Additional Information

Remuneration and Benefits Package: £12,000 car allowance or car, 24% bonus.
