Job Description

Purpose of Position

To oversee the central reporting team, ensuring accurate and timely reporting. Providing support to the Senior Finance Manager while mentoring and developing members of the team.

Key Tasks/Areas of Responsibility

  • Overseeing the accurate and timely delivery of weekly and monthly financial reporting.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of reporting processes and techniques to deliver clearer, more actionable insights.
  • Managing the accurate and timely upload of approved budget plans into financial systems.
  • Supporting the Senior Finance Manager in managing the year-end audit process.
  • Assisting with the timely collation, preparation, and review of DPD weekly financial and management reporting packs.
  • Taking full ownership of month-end reporting controls, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and process integrity.
  • Leading the annual budget process, working closely alongside the Senior Finance Manager to drive planning and delivery.
  • Responsible for reviewing and sign-off on balance sheet reconciliations produced.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Build strong working relationships with Senior Finance Managers and colleagues across the wider finance department.
  • Training, guiding, and supporting the ongoing technical development of direct reports.

Qualifications

About You

Ideally you will be a commercially astute and fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with at least 12 months post qualification practical experience. We would also expect you to hold a minimum of a 2:1 degree in any discipline and Grade C or above GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English. You will have a right first time mentality and a solid grasp of management accounting principles/practices. Strong financial awareness and the ability to control costs by thinking in terms of profit, loss and added value and the ability to monitor your performance against deadlines and milestones is critical.

You’ll also be able to evidence:

  • Proven experience of operating at a senior management accountant or equivalent level role, coupled with the know-how and confidence to present clear and simple results in a cost focused setting.
  • Outstanding analytical skills able to analyse numerical data, verbal data and all other sources of information.
  • Strong planning and forecasting abilities.
  • Advanced Excel plus a good knowledge of reporting tools.
  • Involvement in the successful delivery of project based activities.
  • First rate communication and interpersonal skills.
