Purpose of Position
We are seeking an outstanding, commercially minded Senior Finance Manager to join our high-performing finance team at our Smethwick Head Office. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Finance, you will act as the dedicated financial co-pilot for our Transport and Fleet departments. You will be a key strategic partner to the Associate Director of Transport & Fleet, driving operational efficiencies, unlocking cost savings, and leading high-profile business projects. Alongside your strategic responsibilities, you will lead, mentor, and develop a team of four qualified and non-qualified finance professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance.
Key Tasks/Areas of Responsibility
- Strategic Business Partnering: Act as the primary financial advisor to the Associate Director - Transport & Fleet, constructively challenging operational strategy, spend, and performance to maximize profitability.
- Team Leadership: Inspire, manage, and develop a team of 4 qualified and non-qualified financial professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, high performance, and continuous development.
- Commercial Insights & Analysis: Conduct deep-dive financial analysis into key performance drivers to identify trends, mitigate risks, and support long-term strategic planning.
- Financial Rigor & Cadence: Oversee the preparation and accuracy of critical weekly financial reporting, budgets, targets, and forecasts.
- Project Leadership & Transformation: Lead finance-specific initiatives and act as the finance lead for cross-functional business projects.
- Executive Presentations: Prepare and deliver high-impact performance presentations to the Operating board and the wider executive team, translating financial metrics into compelling business narratives.
Qualifications
About You
You will be educated to degree level or equivalent and/or be a fully qualified member of ACA / ACCA / CIMA or have a similarly recognised accountancy qualification. We would also expect;
- Proven Leadership: A tracking record of managing, motivating, and developing a team of financial professionals. You know how to delegate effectively while driving a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Commercial Acumen & Influence: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust, command a room, and confidently challenge senior non-financial stakeholders.
- Advanced Analytical skills: Strong technical skills with the ability to build sophisticated financial models, interpret complex data sets, and translate them into actionable operational strategies.
- Project & Change Management: Extensive experience leading finance projects and acting as the financial anchor for wider business change initiatives.
- Resilience & Drive: A pragmatic, solution-oriented "can-do" mindset.
- Operational Curiosity: A deep interest in getting out into the business to understand the mechanics of our Transport and Fleet operations, allowing you to proactively identify spend efficiencies and manage financial risk.
