Job Description
Responsible for all security related issues within the business. The role requires that the General Manager South oversees the security of all depots and also our external customers’ goods whilst in transit through DPD. Every attempt must be made to work in a proactive manner to prevent loss and improve and sustain effective security.
Effective security plays a vital role within the DPD UK Operation, given the nature of our business and our commitment to providing outstanding customer service. Security within the business also extends to the requirement to ensure that our employees and property are safeguarded at all times.
The Company therefore has three main security objectives:
- To protect company personnel whilst on duty
- To protect customer goods whilst in our care
- To protect company property and equipment
Local management is responsible for the security of their depots/sites on a daily basis with the Security Department providing direct overall support. The Security Department must operate in a customer-facing manner with a responsibility for the security of our depots.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role you must have extensive and demonstrable experience as a Manager in a similar role within a large scale, multi-layered organisation. You will also be able to evidence successfully leading and inspiring your teams to deliver exceptional results.

- Have good communication skills both verbally and written
- Excellent problem solving skills with an ability to work effectively under pressure and within time constraints
- Manage security teams, developing and implementing security policies, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with safety and security protocols. The role may also involve liaison with external agencies like law enforcement and emergency services.
- Engage with customers and clients on a routine basis and lead by example in providing excellence in contract and relationship management
- Ensure compliance against contractual Service Level Agreements
- Engage with the team and ensure compliance in training, performance management, compliance checks, including personal development & reviews
- Lead in managing the team and operation to proactively control and develop the co-ordination, planning and organisation of the Security Services
- Extensive experience in a high-profile Security or law enforcement environment.
- Establish and maintain best practice links with other Security Managers and law enforcement agencies.
- To take the lead from a Security perspective supported by the Head of Security & other members of the Security Management team to provide direction and expertise to the Network.
- Strong ethical standards and a high level of integrity are crucial for this role.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Completion of a nationally recognised investigation program
