Contract Type: Permanent / 40.25 hours per week (Over the year)

Salary: Circa £31,300 per annum (amount includes London Weighting Allowance)

Location: DPD London Docklands - Twelvetrees Crescent, London E3 3JG

Days of Work: 4 on 4 off

Working Hours: 07:00 to 19:00

Job Description

Our General Manager of Security is looking to recruit reliable and dedicated Gatehouse Operatives. You will be required to manage the day to day vehicle movements on and off the property to include but not limited to LGV vehicles, delivery vans, contractors, visitors and international freight forwarders, ensuring that all vehicle and driver details are recorded accurately against internal computer systems to prevent unauthorised or malicious access to the site. You will be expected to process arrivals and departures in line with company policy and procedure to ensure all freight loads are accounted for correctly and secured as per requirement for departure.

The Gatehouse Operative will be responsible for restricting and controlling the access and egress to site with appropriate operation of electronic or manual barriers and physical presence. You will be expected to communicate with a variety of different people, therefore must display patience and an eagerness to provide an excellent customer experience.

Key Responsibilities of the role:

  • Ensuring that only authorised vehicles (DPD, Subcontractors and delivery vehicles) are given access and egress to the site
  • Communicating to other departments within the business with reference to vehicle movements
  • Physical checks of vehicle details, seals and security measures
  • Ensuring that all reported empty trailers arriving & departing are physically checked.
  • Working as part of a team to deliver excellent gatehouse security and customer service.
  • Coordinating activities between contractors, employees and visitors.
  • Liaising with emergency services and other third-party organisations.
