Who are DPD? We’re not just a delivery company; we’re a tech-led logistics giant with a nearly £2 billion turnover and a massive mission: to be the UK's most sustainable delivery partner. As part of Geopost, we’re leading the way in e-commerce. We’re also a Valuable 500 company and a Disability Confident Employer, because we know a diverse team is a stronger team.

The Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and disciplined Class 1 Shunter to take ownership of our nocturnal yard operations. In this role, you serve as the primary conductor of our logistical flow, ensuring that every movement is executed with precision to maintain the integrity of our high-speed supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Precision Maneuvering: You will be responsible for the safe and efficient navigation of trailers and tug units throughout the yard. This requires exceptional spatial awareness and the ability to execute complex maneuvers in a fast-paced environment with zero margin for error.
  • Systems & Compliance: Beyond physical movement, you will utilize our internal management systems to meticulously log all trailer transitions. You will champion our "Safety First" culture by conducting rigorous pre-use vehicle inspections and ensuring all yard protocols meet Tier 1 compliance standards.
  • Operational Performance: Acting as the vital link between the warehouse floor and our fleet drivers, you will facilitate seamless communication. Your ability to synchronise with warehouse operatives ensures that loading bays are optimized and departure schedules are met without delay.
  • Dynamic Agility: Efficiency is our priority. During periods of fluctuating volume, you will demonstrate professional versatility by assisting with inventory management tasks or performing short-haul local runs as required.

Qualifications

What You Bring to the Team

  • The Credentials: A Class 1 LGV Licence (C + E) and a current Driver CPC.
  • The Vibe: You thrive in fast-paced environments and actually care about the "DPD DNA" - Passion, Respect, and Accountability.
  • The Skills: You can maneuver in tight spots that would make others sweat. You’re proactive, physically fit, and ready to solve problems before they happen.
  • The Tech-Savvy: You’re comfortable with basic digital logging (no paper mountains here).
