An exciting opportunity has arisen within our UK Information Technology team for a UK IT Infrastructure Manager. The UK IT Infrastructure Team Manager plays a pivotal role in the smooth running of the DP World UK terminals by ensuring the underlying IT infrastructure remains highly available at all times by the effective management of the UK Infrastructure team. The role may be based at one of the UK Terminals, but regular visits to the other terminal(s) is also a requirement of this role.
The vacancy is a UK role, which means the successful candidate could therefore be based out of our operational Ports in either DP World Southampton or DP World London Gateway (Essex). There will be a requirement to travel between both ports according to business need.
How you will contribute
- Analyse, design, implement, test and maintain infrastructure solutions for the need of the specific UK container terminals (automated or semi-automated) to ensure they meet the system requirements.
- Ensure infrastructure design meets the performance and redundancy requirements of the DP World UK Solution.
- Work closely with DP World HO IT to support implementation of the systems in Global IT portfolio.
- Manage and provide leadership towards selected hardware, system software providers, database software providers and cloud service providers in the deployment of the Data Centre solutions.
- Manage and mitigate infrastructure risks.
- Participate in the 24/7 system support of business critical and essential IT services.
- Plan and manage on-call rota of level 3 support of UK infrastructure team.
- Ensure all aspects of IT infrastructure (both on-prem and cloud) remain future proofed, highly resilient and able to meet the demands of the 24/7 operation.
- Create standard operating environment (SOE) of data Centre servers to ensure continuity over both UK sites.
- Ensure Infrastructure security with server hardening policy and corporate anti-virus operation and modifications.
- Liaise with equipment vendors to enhance applications performance and support stability.
- Actively manage the clustered high availability solutions across sites.
- Utilize virtualization or containerization to maximize use of hardware.
- Migrate systems to the cloud where applicable to obtain the required performance through the cloud.
- Continuously monitor System Capacity requirements - Disc storage, processor utilization, communications bandwidth, power, UPS/standby generator, etc.
- Continuously monitor the performance of applications, systems, databases to ensure necessary steps are taken in case of a bottleneck, incident or disaster.
- Responsible for ensuring projects and BAU that your team members are working on are being progressed in a timely fashion and to a high standard.
- Provide regular reports to UK Infrastructure Manager, highlighting any issues or reasons for potential delay.
- Ensure a high standard of technical documentation is maintained.
- Design, plan, implement, test and regularly update disaster recovery plans and particularly prioritize redundant systems in DP World UK terminals.
- Manage your own workload as well as the workload of the Infrastructure team according to business priorities while ensuring that the team has enough support to deliver the results.
- Contribute to the continuous business improvement process and to the meeting of business objectives.
What you will bring
- +5 Years of previous team management experience.
- Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience about Microsoft Server OS, VMware, SAN technologies and networking.
- Experience in a hybrid datacenter environment (both cloud and on-premise).
- Experience in an automated environment.
