DP World is currently recruiting for an Electrical Infrastructure Manager who will be responsible for the integrity, suitability, availability and reliability of Port/Park HV & LV infrastructure, ensuring safe systems of work are adhered to by all staff, contractors and visitors to the London Gateway Port and Logistics Park based in Stanford le Hope - Essex.
About The Role
- Lead the appropriate power solutions to ensure these are designed, planned and constructed to meet the current and future demands of the Port and Park.
- Ensure that a safe and healthy work environment exists by being responsible for leading, improving and engaging with Health, Safety, Environment and Security Policies and Procedures, including safe working practices and complying with Fatal Risk Standards to achieve full compliance with all relevant legislation, risk assessments and operating procedures.
- Oversee all Authorised Persons on site, ensuring all persons are suitably qualified and capable to operate safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a high level of personal visibility in operational areas, taking time to discuss work with the team. Maintain high standards regarding work practice and safety rules and ensure the team adhere to the same high standards, building a proactive safety culture.
- Lead and manage a small team of 4 - Electrical Engineers and Facility Electricians, ensuring safe working and skills development strategies.
- Ensure 100% availability and reliability of the electrical supply to Port and Park to ensure the business can maintain full functionality.
- Assume the role of SAP (senior appointed person) for HV (high voltage) networks at London Gateway Port & Park, including out of hours support for emergencies, unscheduled shutdowns and occasional planned maintenance.
- Management of Port/Park metering systems, including reporting of readings as required.
- Administration of electrical consumption record.
- Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, including Operations, contractors, regulatory bodies and energy suppliers.
- Identify opportunities for technological advancements and process improvements to enhance system efficiency and reliability.
- Ensure effective strategy is in place to provide 24/7 switching support.
- Ensure that method statements and risk assessments of all the maintenance activities are documented and implemented.
- Manage the equipment contractors and any other 3rd parties maintaining equipment.
- Oversee and ensure the team to determine stocks and inventory levels.
- Oversee and ensure the team improve equipment performance at the lowest reasonable cost.
- Reporting as and where required on matters concerning reliability, consumption and disposal.
- Assist the team in the outsourcing of maintenance activities.
- Direct and drive operational efficiency and productivity, proactively looking for continuous improvement and development opportunities.
- Ensure business compliance with Electricity at Work Regulations Act 1989, Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
- Ensure Port/Park LV infrastructure is maintained and inspected in accordance with manufacturers recommendations and relevant legislation.
Skills And Experience
- HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Significant demonstrable experience of HV network (>11kV) switching.
- Strong experience as HV Senior Authorised Person (SAP).
- In depth knowledge and experience of maintaining and/or managing HV networks.
- Experience of leading a team.
- Previous experience working as an effective manager in a fast-moving operational business.
- Demonstrable experience of proactive problem solving and innovation, driving operational efficiency and excellence.
- Good understanding and experience of businesses requiring 24/7 support.
- Excellent Health & Safety knowledge and understanding.
- Excellent systems and IT knowledge and ability.
- Knowledge of LEAN methodologies is desirable.
- In depth understanding of compliance and legislative needs relating to HV and related activities.
