We are currently recruiting for a skilled Engineering Asset Manager, responsible for the availability, reliability, and safe operation of Quay Cranes and Rail Mounted Gantry Cranes through effective asset management, maintenance planning, and team leadership based from London Gateway in Stanford le Hope, Essex.

About The Role

How will you contribute:

  • Leading, developing and motivating engineering teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, safety and continuous improvement.
  • High focus in driving asset performance through effective maintenance strategies, operational planning and reliability improvements to maximise equipment availability and efficiency.
  • Managing and achieving departmental KPIs, ensuring operational performance meets business and customer requirements.
  • Building strong relationships with operational stakeholders, employee representatives and contractors to support effective decision-making and service delivery.
  • Leading succession planning, workforce development and capability-building initiatives to ensure long-term team success.
  • Managing departmental budgets, contractor performance and resource planning to deliver value while maintaining operational excellence.
  • Providing visible leadership across operational areas, promoting the highest standards of health, safety, environmental compliance and safe working practices.
  • Acting as the escalation point for significant technical or operational issues, driving effective problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Overseeing engineering projects and maintenance programmes, ensuring delivery to agreed quality, cost and timescale objectives.
  • Supporting long-term asset strategies, investment planning and business improvement initiatives to meet future operational needs.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • People-focused and analytical engineering leader with a proven track record of managing critical assets in complex operational environments.
  • Proven track record of improving critical engineering asset reliability and availability in high pressure/demanding environments.
  • Significant leadership experience within large engineering or asset management teams.
  • Experience managing critical operational assets in a production, logistics, manufacturing, port, industrial or similar environment.
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety and risk management within safety-critical environments.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop diverse teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Experience managing and reporting on budgets, resources and contractor performance.
  • Ability to remain resilient, adaptable and effective in a dynamic environment.
  • Full UK driving licence.
