Terminal Supervisor in Southampton

Terminal Supervisor – DP World, Southampton, England, United Kingdom

We are currently looking for a Terminal Supervisor to join our team based at Southampton Docks. This is a 24/7 port operation; the role covers day and night shifts, working 12‑hour periods. The supervisor will manage the operations of container loading or unloading, ensuring optimal utilization and maximum productivity while considering commercial, safety, and operational factors and adhering to port policies.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for terminal productivity rates for all vessels and trucks, ensuring they meet minimum specified standards.
• Determine and ensure that adequate capacity is available to meet changing business demands (e.g., demand for organizational products, services and technological advancements).
• Manage safety (including LTIFR) and reduce rates of unsafe acts and situations.
• Reduce wastage, error levels, and revenue leakage.
• Ensure smooth running of standard operating procedures.
• Provide a proactive interface with other departments and external agencies for an efficient workplace.
• Maintain and develop u/c cargo lifting skills.
• Day‑to‑day management, motivation and development, including performance management of the operational department to meet current and future needs.

Qualifications & Experience

• Strong operations expertise with a minimum of 3 years of supervisory or managerial experience.
• Ability to monitor KPI’s and performance metrics.
• APP-Qualified Person Qualification, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in developing and managing DP World Safe Systems of Work.
• Knowledge of Terminal Engineering Procedures.
• TOS/Zodiac knowledge.
• 1:1 experience.
• Experience with shift work.
• Incident management and reporting experience.
