We are currently delivering a major Billing Transformation Programme, introducing a new enterprise billing platform to replace our existing system. Alongside this transformation, we must continue to support and maintain our current platform, ensuring continuity and accuracy while carefully managing complex and business‑critical data, processes, and structures. This creates a unique opportunity to be part of a high‑impact programme, helping to protect and evolve our billing capability while transitioning to a modern, future‑ready solution.

We are looking for an experienced and highly driven QA Lead to join CNS in Southampton and play a critical role in delivering the Billing Transformation Programme. This role sits at the heart of programme delivery, leading and owning the full quality assurance lifecycle to ensure billing accuracy, data integrity, and system readiness. You’ll work closely with the Project Manager, Billing Product Owner, IT teams, and business stakeholders across Finance, Commercial, and Operations to ensure a robust and structured testing approach. This role is both strategic and hands‑on, requiring you to define QA frameworks while actively participating in testing activities to support successful delivery. This position is ideal for a QA professional who thrives in transformation programmes, enjoys working across complex system, data, and business validation scenarios, and can lead quality initiatives while stepping into execution when needed.

How you will contribute:

  • Own and manage the full QA lifecycle across the Billing Transformation Programme, from planning through execution to final sign‑off.
  • Define testing strategy, scope, and approach across SIT, UAT, regression, and data migration validation.
  • Create detailed test plans, scenarios, entry/exit criteria, and success metrics.
  • Actively participate in hands‑on testing, including system testing, data validation, and defect verification.
  • Support and guide QA analysts and business SMEs during testing phases, ensuring alignment with business processes.
  • Validate billing outputs through reconciliation between legacy and new systems, ensuring accuracy and integrity.
  • Work closely with the Billing Product Owner to confirm correct implementation of billing rules and logic.
  • Establish and manage defect tracking, prioritisation, and resolution processes, leading defect triage sessions.
  • Coordinate testing activities across IT, Finance, Commercial, and Operations teams.
  • Facilitate test workshops, readiness reviews, and UAT support activities.
  • Define and enforce QA governance, quality standards, and testing frameworks.
  • Assess go‑live readiness from a quality and data integrity perspective and support sign‑off decisions.
  • Escalate risks, defects, and quality issues where required to ensure delivery standards are met.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of QA practices, tools and methodologies.

What you will bring:

  • Strong experience in QA and testing within system implementation or transformation programmes.
  • Proven experience across system integration testing (SIT), UAT, regression, and data migration validation.
  • Hands‑on QA experience, with the ability and willingness to actively participate in testing execution.
  • Solid understanding of data validation, reconciliation, and reporting processes.
  • Experience working with finance, billing, or data‑intensive systems is highly advantageous.
  • Exposure to test automation and performance testing tools is desirable.
  • Strong defect management experience, including tracking, triage, and resolution processes.
  • High attention to detail with a structured and methodical approach to testing.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve complex issues.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work across technical and business teams.
  • Ability to challenge constructively and enforce quality standards within a fast‑paced environment.
  • Resilient, proactive, and capable of operating effectively within complex programme delivery environments.
  • Strong coordination and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
