Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Solutions Engineering – Deputy Manager (Warehouse/Contract Logistics) to join our ever expanding business across Europe due to significant growth and contract wins. The primary focus of this role can be based in the UK, France or Spain with travel expected across Europe.
NB This is not an IT position, it is Solutions Design Engineering for Warehousing/Contract Logistics, bringing warehouse design, data analysis and automation to life in response to 3PL customer requirements.
Your roleResponsibilities
- Support the development of team members to expertly perform solution engineering duties for bid design phases and launching new business. Additionally, promote cross-training for team members across verticals and other departments (Pricing, etc.).
- Assist in setting department goals and objectives derived from the overall solutions engineering goals and continually evaluate the performance and training requirements of regional engineering resources.
- Assist in the design and delivery of customer-specific solutions and ensure best-in-class responses to customer requests for quotations, contract renewals, requests for information, and major operational scope changes requiring the services of regional solutions engineering
- Support the vertical-specific solutions engineering team in the design and launch of solutions for the respective verticals in the region.
- Collaborate closely with nominated stakeholders across all functions/countries to align internal and external requirements and deliverables, assisting in the design, calculation, documentation, pricing, response, presentation, review, and planning of customer solutions.
- For assigned bids that are awarded, work with the solutions engineering team and launch teams to implement new business on time, within engineering budget, and within the priced operational P&L.
- Promote the sharing of best practices between countries/functions and continuously enhance, standardize, and streamline the solution design process and tools.
- Assist in allocating capacity for all bids throughout the teams and help prioritize project assignments and workload for the group.
- Contribute to achieving the annual targets for new business awards, contract renewals, and launch engineering for the region (or verticals within the region).
- Execute the established automation process for incorporating automation into new bids and existing sites, including any customer-specific automation programs.
Qualifications
- Ideally degree educated or equivalent experience in an engineering discipline
- Experience within supply chain, logistics, warehousing, or automotive industries preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of supply chain activities, integrated logistics, and quality systems best practices.
- Hands-on knowledge of various operational roles (operations management, materials, quality, project management)
- Over 5 years of experience in engineering and over 2 years of experience in engineering management.
- Experience in related vertical (Tech, Industrial, All Other; Automotive; Chemicals) engineering and engineering management
- Operational experience within the respective vertical of Tech, Industrial, All Other; Automotive; Chemicals)
- Experience in process planning, RFQ engineering, project management and Material Handling Equipment (MHE) calculations. MTM/MOST certification is a plus
- Experience in warehouse design/operations and installing capital equipment.
- Ability to assist in the process of closing business deals with the customer
