Operations Director – Contract Logistics – Multi-User – North Europe
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Operations Director to lead our contract logistics operations across our multiple shared-user warehousing sites. This role is pivotal in delivering operational excellence, client satisfaction, and commercial growth across our UK multi-client distribution network.
Reporting to the VP Contract Logistics – North Europe, you will provide leadership across operations, client management, compliance, people development, and financial performance. You’ll also support new business launches and collaborate closely with commercial teams to expand our footprint and capabilities.
NOTE: this is a hybrid opportunity with a requirement for regular travel and can be based anywhere in the UK.
How You Will Contribute
Operational Leadership
- Lead day-to-day and long-term logistics operations across multiple client accounts and sites.
- Balance resources across clients to maximise efficiency and meet SLAs and KPIs.
- Standardise best practices while tailoring solutions to client needs.
- Drive transitions, integrations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the key operational contact for clients, building trust-based relationships.
- Ensure proactive communication, issue resolution, and service improvement.
- Collaborate with commercial teams on contracts, onboarding, and scaling services.
People & Performance Management
- Lead site leaders, operations managers, and support teams.
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on safety, accountability, and development.
- Build talent pipelines through coaching and succession planning.
Financial & P&L Accountability
- Own operational budgets and profitability across client operations.
- Partner with Finance on forecasting, variance analysis, and margin optimisation.
- Oversee accurate billing, invoicing, and reporting.
Compliance & Risk
- Ensure adherence to regulatory, safety, legal, and client-specific requirements.
- Lead audits, quality checks, and risk mitigation planning.
- Maintain and enforce SOPs across all operations.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Drive efficiencies through lean methodologies and performance improvement.
- Support deployment of technologies (WMS, TMS, automation).
- Benchmark and adopt industry best practices.
What You Will Bring
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in industrial/mechanical engineering, logistics, or business administration.
- Extensive experience leading contract logistics operations in a global multinational.
- Proven experience managing multi-user/client warehouse environments.
- Strong commercial acumen and operational excellence.

- Detail-oriented with critical thinking and collaboration abilities.

- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
