About the Role:

We are now looking for an additional Legal Counsel Logistics – UK/Europe to be based in one of our UK facilities. This role will report in to the Regional Head of Legal - Logistics, based in London. We are a dynamic, lean and focused team. The primary focus of this role will be the UK contract logistics and freight management businesses with some support anticipated for Ireland, the Netherlands and the wider regional logistics businesses. With the geographic reach we cover, we are looking for a motivated self-starter who is comfortable working independently for some aspects of the role, but equally comfortable working within the wider team on other aspects. We are commercially minded and practical, and take pride in the high levels of service we provide to our business units. Our new Legal Counsel Logistics will share these values and be a good cultural fit for our team.

How you will contribute:

  • Provide professional transaction support to the Commercial and Operations teams within our Logistics pillar, supporting business responses to customer RFPs and RFQs, and reviewing and negotiating a variety of corporate, commercial, procurement, property, construction and employment-related agreements (primarily under English law though review of agreements under other laws will also be required from time to time with the assistance of external counsels or other DP World legal team members if necessary);
  • Provide or assist in providing strategic legal advice to address additional issues relating to data privacy and security, intellectual property, tax, labour and employment law. Familiarity with GDPR regulation and TUPE issues is required, as well as experience with works councils;
  • Assist with formulation and implementation of policies and procedures as needed to ensure that business operations are compliant with internal and external requirements;
  • Assist with any expansion activity as required, partnering with senior finance, operations, and technology colleagues across various business units on best practices, entity structuring and critical regulatory and employment matters, and including support with related legal entity creation, subsidiary management and internal/affiliate transactions and restructurings/integrations and other due diligence activities;
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with business leaders, peers and other business stakeholders in the European region;
  • Closely cooperate with other regional and global legal teams to ensure synergy between legal departments, appropriate awareness of activities, and maintenance consistent processes and procedures;
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with external counsels and legal experts in the European region.

What you will bring:

  • Excellent academic credentials; qualified in England & Wales (other relevant jurisdictions of admission will also be considered).
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of post-qualification experience in relevant areas, with strong emphasis on general corporate and/or commercial contracts. Experience in a corporate (commercial) organization and with business operations – preferably within the Logistics industry - is strongly preferred. Experience with property and construction contracts would be helpful but is not essential.
  • Strong transaction management skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a high degree of personal and professional integrity.
  • Fluent/professional working proficiency in English (proficiency in any other additional European languages is a plus).
  • Understanding of basic economic and accounting principles and practices.
  • Based in the UK (hybrid working arrangements available), with the ability to undertake occasional business travel as required, specifically in the European region.
