DP World are currently recruiting for a
Maintenance Engineer to join our growing Engineering team in Coventry.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of DP World's highly automated logistics operation, working with cutting-edge automation technology including Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS), robotics, sortation systems and advanced warehouse control technology.
As the site continues to expand, you'll play a critical role in supporting, maintaining and optimising some of the most innovative automated warehousing solutions in the UK.
Working alongside specialist suppliers, installers and commissioning engineers, you'll gain hands-on exposure to new technologies while helping shape the future of automation within DP World.
- How you will contribute
- Maintain and optimise highly automated warehouse systems, including AMRs, ASRS, robotics, conveyors and sortation equipment.
- Carry out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance activities to maximise system availability and operational performance.
- Diagnose and rectify electrical, mechanical and controls-related faults across a broad range of automated technologies.
- Perform fault finding on PLC-controlled equipment and support system troubleshooting to minimise downtime.
- Work alongside equipment manufacturers, suppliers and commissioning teams during the installation, testing and handover of new automation solutions.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve reliability, efficiency and equipment performance.
- Support site expansion projects and contribute to the successful deployment of new automation and robotics technologies.
- Accurately record maintenance activities, equipment performance data and engineering improvements through maintenance management systems.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering and Operations teams to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
- Champion a strong safety culture and ensure all engineering activities are completed in accordance with company procedures and health and safety legislation.
- What you will bring
- Previous experience working within an automated warehouse, distribution, logistics, manufacturing or highly automated production environment.
- Hands-on experience maintaining automated material handling equipment such as AMRs, ASRS, robotics, conveyors, shuttles or sortation systems.
- Strong multi-skilled engineering capability with both electrical and mechanical fault-finding experience.
- Knowledge of PLC-controlled systems and the ability to diagnose and resolve automation-related issues.
- Experience supporting the installation, commissioning or launch of new equipment and automated systems would be highly advantageous.
- Engineering qualification (Electrical, Mechanical, Controls or Multi-Skilled Engineering), or equivalent practical industry experience.
- Strong problem-solving skills with experience conducting root cause analysis and driving reliability improvements.
- Comfortable working alongside external suppliers, contractors and specialist engineering partners.
- A proactive mindset with a passion for automation, emerging technologies and continuous improvement.
- Commitment to safety, quality and operational excellence within a fast-paced engineering environment.
