Here at P&O Ferries we are seeking a Port Operative to join our team here in Larne on a permanent contract. This is an opportunity to work as part of the Operations team helping to ensure that efficient discharge/loading of all vessels to maintain a safe turn-round in line with sailing schedules. Achieve maximum ship fill without damage to company or customer equipment. Satisfy customer and commercial requirements whilst delivering a high quality service. Ensure the terminal is properly controlled utilizing available space to the maximum benefit. The successful candidate will have a proven record in Port Operations. The role is based in Larne.

Key responsibilities and duties:

  • Working knowledge of Safety in Docks Regulations
  • Understanding of dock working and operating procedures
  • Tug master driving skills to H.G.V. standard and driving other types of vehicles
  • Shackling Skills
  • Self‑motivated and able to work under pressure
  • Must have a positive attitude
  • Must be able to follow orders/instructions
  • Literate and Numerate
  • Flexible attitude and calm under pressure
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Must be physically fit
  • Must be able to drive and carry out shackling
  • Must attend company medicals
  • Co‑operate and carry out duties with regards to H & S requirements

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a class 1 LGV licence.

Desirable:

  • PCV bus licence

Location – Larne this role operates 24/7 working 12hr shifts: 08.00-20.00, 20.00-08.00.
