We are seeking a hands‑on IT Network Engineer to join and lead our dynamic team. Based out of our Southampton Port and reporting into our Network Manager, you will play a pivotal role in conducting internal analyses of network performance and traffic analysis, as well as working on projects to improve network performance across DP World.
Responsibilities
- Monitor the network as defined by the IT procedures and resolve support issues.
- Maintain and develop network hardware and software and provide on‑site assistance and troubleshooting.
- Implement network changes into the various environments following company procedures, i.e. change control and security policies.
- Monitor and maintain the clustered high‑availability solutions across two sites.
- Monitor the data centres and virtual environments.
- Monitor the site‑wide network infrastructure, including all LAN, WAN and Wireless LAN connections.
- Monitor communication systems.
- Be familiar with DR procedures.
- Supply service desk support facilities.
- Contribute to and develop network documentation.
- Take on other tasks and projects as defined by the Infrastructure Manager.
Qualifications
- Minimum degree level or equivalent.
- CCNA or higher or equivalent qualifications.
- Familiar with ITIL concepts.
- Commercial awareness.
- Proven experience supporting large Cisco‑based enterprise networks.
- Experience networking in large industrial environments (advantageous).
- Understanding of virtualization and virtual network technology such as Cisco UCS and VMware.
- Understanding of network design and architectures.
- Demonstrable ability to work within a team and liaise effectively with third parties.
- Excellent networking knowledge.
- Ability to respond quickly to incidents and urgent requests.
- Can work effectively under pressure and contribute to multiple concurrent projects.
- Good communication skills.
- Familiarity with one or more of: Checkpoint firewalls, IPSEC VPNs (remote access and site‑to‑site), Cisco ISE, F5 load balancers.
