Description
We're looking for a safety-focused and motivated Mooring Operative / Linkspan Operator to join our Operations team.
This is a varied, hands-on role where you'll be at the heart of terminal operations, ensuring vessels berth safely, traffic flows efficiently, and passengers and freight move through the port safely and on time.
No two days are the same.
You'll work alongside vessel crews and colleagues across the port to deliver a safe, reliable and world-class service.
You'll be someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in working safely, and thrives in a fast-paced operational environment
Key responsibilities and duties
- Safely mooring and unmooring vessels.
- Operating linkspan equipment to facilitate the safe loading and discharge of vessels.
- Marshalling commercial and passenger traffic within assembly lanes and loading areas.
- Directing vehicles safely during embarkation and disembarkation.
- Maintaining effective communication with vessel crews and terminal control
The ideal candidate will
- Have experience working in a port environment
- Be willing to work outside in all weather conditions
- Have the flexibility to work patterns including weekends and nights
- Be able to work as part of a team
- Have good communication skills
Desirable
- Experience of mooring operations or operating linkspans or similar equipment.
- Traffic Marshal experience
