Here at P&O Ferries we are seeking a Customer Operations Agent to join our Operations Department at Dover Eastern Docks on a permanent basis. This is a frontline port role operating on annualised hours, with shift work including nights, weekends, and bank holidays, and regular outdoor working in all weather conditions. This is an opportunity to work as part of the Port Operations team, helping to ensure that passenger and freight traffic is processed safely and efficiently, customers receive a high standard of service, and port operations run smoothly during busy operational periods.
The successful candidate will have experience in customer service delivery, working accurately in a fast-paced environment, and communicating effectively with customers and operational teams. The role is fully site based at Dover Eastern Docks and requires a high degree of flexibility.
Key responsibilities and duties:- Processing passenger and freight vehicles, foot passengers, and group travel
- Delivering a high standard of customer service in a busy port environment
- Checking and collating documentation in line with statutory and port authority requirements
- Processing cash and card payments and accurately reconciling transactions
- Assisting with the loading and unloading of company vessels, including directing traffic
- Working outdoors and across different operational areas as required
- Have previous experience in a customer service–focused role
- Be comfortable working outdoors in a port environment
- Demonstrate flexibility to work annualised hours and shift patterns
- Have strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills
- Be reliable, punctual, and adaptable to changing operational demands
- Knowledge of ferry or port operations (advantageous but not essential)
