DP World is hiring Electrical Maintenance Technicians to join our engineering team based at the London Gateway Container Port in Stanford le Hope. This role is crucial for ensuring the availability and reliability of our large-scale equipment, which is essential for the terminal's efficient operations.
Responsibilities include:
- Troubleshooting motors, inverter drives, and using programmable logic controllers.
- Competently carrying out preventive maintenance and repair works, in accordance with company safety standards to minimise equipment downtime.
- Conducting fault finding on assets using PLC to identify and remedy repair issues effectively.
- Collecting data/information while carrying out work on any asset and providing it to the Engineering Planners.
- Managing and supervising contractors during delivery and commissioning of equipment or while working on any asset, ensuring safe working practices are followed.
- Supporting the development, improvement, and updating of method statements and risk assessments for any preventive maintenance or repairs carried out on our Automated Stacking Cranes.
- Leading by example and encouraging others to implement and improve safe working procedures and practices.
- Working closely with the stores and Asset Managers to maintain inventory and stock levels.
- Continuously innovating and improving to ensure optimal productivity and equipment performance.
What You Will Bring:
- National Qualifications Framework – Minimum Level 3 Qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds Professional qualification in electrical discipline).
- At least 3 years experience within an electrical technician role.
- Troubleshooting and fault diagnostic of electrical and control circuits.
- Experience working on heavy plant/manufacturing equipment is essential.
- Understanding of and use of PLC systems to aid effective fault finding; PLC programming is not essential, however, a basic understanding will be an advantage.
- Strong knowledge/understanding of motors and inverter drives/frequency controllers.
- Experience and knowledge of HSE regulations related to equipment maintenance and activities.

- A full valid UK driving licence or appropriate international licence allowing you to drive on UK roads.
- No unspent criminal convictions.
- Due to manufacturing guidance and safety weight limits, our safety critical roles require an individual to weigh under 130kg.
