We are currently looking for an Engineering Scheduler to join our fast-paced team based at Southampton Docks. In this role you will produce work priorities for each shift to cover asset maintenance and repair to meet operational and business requirements. You will ensure that the work schedules and priorities are set taking into account the available resources (manpower, materials and availability) and produce reliability data and actions required to improve productivity. In this role it is essential to hold a valid UK driving licence.
How will you contribute:
- Liaise between Engineering Managers, Operational Planners, Stores Officers and Team Leaders to ensure a seamless maintenance routine of all assets with minimal operational disruption, whilst maintaining full compliance with maintenance and reliability requirements and statutory inspections.
- Liaise with the Asset engineers to produce shift schedules for the Engineering Team Leaders to execute through every shift.
- Collect productivity data based on completion of schedule, time taken and accuracy of resources used.
- Identify the improvement areas for each shift based on utilization of resources and generate action plans for Supervisors and incorporate agreed modifications into the Maximo process.
- Schedule planned maintenance, statutory inspection and defects, modification, project work, warranty work, training and incorporate audit SFI's and N/C's actions into work plans.
- Analyse asset reliability and develop (with Terminal Engineering Manager) improvement targets for each asset for input into Maximo.
- Ensure that Project work is planned and completed within agreed milestones without having a detrimental effect on the overall maintenance workload.
- Report where Project milestones may be affected by changing work load circumstances and advise of potential new targets.
- Expedite resource shortfalls that will have a detrimental effect on schedules and priorities.
- Forward plan resource requirements and advise Engineering Management of any shortfalls that could become business critical and create unacceptable backlogs.
- Monitor effectiveness of maintenance systems in ensuring compliance with applicable standards, directives, regulations and legislative requirements.
- Ensure that the Engineering Management System is kept up to date in relation to areas of responsibility including asset status.
- Review the effectiveness and efficiencies of schedules and make adjustments of task norms, kit lists and tooling to improve accuracy.
- Review Work Orders and task groupings to ensure most effective execution and where possible shift long segments.
- Liaise with the Reliability Engineer for areas where predictive maintenance strategies can be applied to reduce routine planned preventative techniques.
- Exercise proper commercial control and optimisation of expenditure in relation to the core prime mover assets on the terminal.
- Carry out cost benefit analysis of repairs or non-OEM spare parts against original new parts.
Your Keys Skills & Experience:
- Relevant level qualification or equivalent experience, preferably in Engineering or Computer Sciences or Information Technology.
- Experience with a variety of IT systems ideally including Maximo, EAMS, Word, Outlook, Excel and project management software.
- ESSENTIAL - valid UK driving licence.
- Effective interpersonal skills and must be able to communicate at all levels of seniority.
- Understanding and appreciation of asset functionality and service requirements.
- Ability to analyse asset performance data and generate management information/improvement plans.
- Understanding of the need for Asset Management plans, and able to contribute to their development.
- Understanding of the principles of prioritising competing investment projects and producing a business case (cost, benefits and risks of a proposed solution).
- Excellent communication, coordination and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent team player. Dynamic, creative and innovative.
- Experience with planning processes and project management/auditing or investigative work.
- Ability to monitor the effectiveness of planning processes and plans and identify appropriate corrective actions.
- Able to identify and classify risks, analyse causal factors and potential impacts on work area.
- An understanding of the importance of quality data, working to information standards and participates in the conversion of data to valuable business information.
