Job Description:

We are excited to continue expanding Freight Division, based at London Gateway, Essex. This role is due to a new venture in the freight department with ambitious growth, the upcoming launch of our new Morocco service—scheduled to go live at the end of October. We anticipate a significant increase in container volumes and operational activity. To support this growth and ensure smooth implementation, we are recruiting additional Freight Operators to our already well-established team at London Gateway.

We are looking for an experienced Ocean Freight Operator to be the foundation for our journey and the beginning of our growth, you will focus on Imports into the UK and ideally come from a shipping line background.

How you will contribute:

  • The ideal candidate will have operational experience in Ocean freight, ideally with import or export experience.
  • The ability to undertake export or Import customs declarations both preparation and submission.
  • A good understanding of customer service excellence accompanied by an alert & professional telephone manner.
  • Ocean DG trained would be an advantage, if not training will be provided.
  • Execute job activity in accordance with the DP World global freight forwarding operating process.
  • Be compliant to all internal & external governance.
  • Assist with account start-up. Liaison with sales to ensure required documentation/information needed for the SOP are provided.
  • Monitor/audit files weekly for compliance of estimate input, profit margin setting and timely invoicing.
  • Assist clients in their day-by-day requests related to export or import documentation in order to ensure proper execution to the transportation files.
  • Shipment irregularity handling, address and resolve as needed.
  • Provide clients with complete Sailing details in order to ensure proper flow in information is guaranteed.
  • Liaise with Ocean lines in order to procure the best possible solutions (capacity and cost) to be utilized upon execution of transportation files.
  • Customer quotations to be prepared & executed in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with DPW internal Network and external Partner Agents in order to guarantee the best possible service assistance.
  • Act quickly upon possible emergency situations that may arise within the life of an Ocean file
  • Network with your fellow colleagues to ensure proper support is given in case of workflow overload.
  • Maintain customer reports as required.

What you will bring:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • GCSE Level or above.

EXPERIENCE

  • At least 3 years of relevant and recent experience in Freight Forwarding Operations and Customer Service
  • Freight Forwarding experience is mandatory.

SKILLS

  • Freight Forwarding – Solid and demonstrated working knowledge of the Freight Forwarding Industry.
  • Execution Driving Skills – Ability to drive strong execution of initiatives, ensuring that the Countries get things right the first time through questioning, analysing, planning and follow-up.
  • Agile Skills – Ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet various deadlines
  • Computer Skills – Intermediate computer skills with a proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Analytical Skills – Strong analytical skills including ability to analyse numbers and attention to detail
  • Communication – Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate with clients, carriers, other forwarders, vendors
  • Languages – You speak and write fluent English – additional languages are a bonus, but not a must.
