This is an excellent opportunity to join Larne Port’s Maintenance Team, where you will be responsible for providing reliable, skilled, efficient and professional vehicle maintenance to the Port. Duties will include maintenance and upkeep of all port equipment, tug-masters, shuttlebuses, and all other port vehicles. You will play an integral and crucial role in maintaining productivity and minimising down time.
The successful candidate will be a time served commercial vehicle/plant/industrial mechanic with burning and welding experience. The role is based at Port of Larne. Hours of Work Monday – Friday, with an on-call roster to cover weekend and evening call outs.
Key responsibilities and duties:- Repair or replace broken or defective parts and resolve defects
- Comply with HSSE regulations and requirements – work as per Risk Assessment and Method Statements to make sure health and safety is strictly always adhered to
- Ensure that VMU works comply with statutory standards and requirements, using own knowledge and also that of the VMU team
- Ensure that contractors are inducted/supervised during service visits where necessary prior to accessing equipment and plant and provide support when carrying out work within the port
- Provide support to the maintenance team, including electricians, building and mechanical trades
- A Full UK Driving License with no serious motoring offences
- Time Served commercial vehicle/plant/industrial mechanic with burning and welding experience
- NVQ Level 3 in Commercial Vehicles or equivalent
- Demonstrable experience in maintenance & repair of industrial machinery
- Knowledge of vehicle electrics and hydraulics
- Experience and knowledge of working with diesel and petrol engines
- Financial Awareness
- Good communication skills, ability to work as part of a team
- Self-starter, able to take initiative
- Commercially focused with a good knowledge of Health & Safety requirements
