Lead Engineering Project Manager – Product Support at Dowty (a GE Aerospace company). Dowty is a world-leading manufacturer of integrated propeller systems with applications ranging from regional and military transport aircraft to marine hovercraft. The organization supports an extensive and growing fleet of in-service aircraft, from new builds to support for aircraft manufacturers and operators across the globe. This is a permanent position focused on all aspects of customer engineering, including support for ongoing operations and customer-driven improvements for a specific platform. The role also includes support to ongoing production and maintenance operations and leadership of projects related to reliability enhancements, cost reductions, or other improvements. Responsibilities
- Lead the technical strategy for your assigned projects.
- Be a customer advocate within the company, ensuring major issues and concerns are considered with the appropriate priority.
- Lead safety investigations to arrive at timely solutions acceptable to the company, customers and the authorities.
- Manage customer support requests including concessions and AOG (aircraft on ground) requests.
- Support programs across the product lifecycle, including bids and proposals, new product introduction and in-service support.
- Leverage reliability, operational and financial data to identify and advocate improvement opportunities for your assigned platform and the broader business.
- Support customer meetings with the program manager, including leadership of technical solutions.
- Support manufacturing and MRO operations for your assigned projects.
- Assure documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects consistent with company policy and customer requirements.
- Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.
- Manage a test program to validate design change and manage continued airworthiness.
- Apply established project management tools to manage technical requirements from customers, company and regulatory authorities.
- Build and lead integrated product teams, mentoring assigned personnel to aid execution of projects.
- Manage all functions to ensure robust scope, schedules and risk assessments are developed to deliver project commitment.
- Ensure assigned projects are delivered within financial and contractual constraints, and through established company procedures.
- Create project estimates and support company strategic planning processes, including annual budgets, spend forecasts, resource planning and funding requirements.
- Develop statements of work to facilitate engagement of external engineering support where needed.
- Contribute to the development of the project engineering function and represent the management team when necessary.
Qualifications
- Experience working with complex aerospace products within customer or operationally focused environments.
- Experience with safety-critical products and knowledge of airworthiness requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate and lead cross-functional teams, ranging from engineering to manufacturing, sourcing and external suppliers.
- Demonstrated leadership of complex projects using a range of established tools.
- Strong communication and influencing skills with aptitude for interacting at all levels within the business.
- Willingness to travel internationally as required by the business.
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant engineering or technical subject, or equivalent relevant experience.
