The Downingtown Area School District is excited to announce an opening for an English/Language Arts teacher for the start of the 2026‑2027 school year at Marsh Creek Sixth Grade Center.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree
- Valid Pennsylvania certification for English 7‑12 or 6‑9 English (or equivalent) with appropriate endorsement
- Knowledge of content areas in English/Language Arts, ability to plan effective instruction, and proficiency in educational technology
- Strong interpersonal and classroom management skills, with a positive attitude toward teaching and service to the district
- Ability to flex hours to accommodate students, parents, and colleagues and to comply with background and criminal record checks
- Commitment to the PA Code of Professional Practice and Conduct for Educators and to district policies and procedures
Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare lessons and assessments aligned to district curriculum and state standards
- Deliver instruction that engages all students and supports varied learning styles
- Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment and manage behavior effectively
- Communicate clearly with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators
- Collaborate with team members, attend professional development, and participate in induction programs
Salary and Schedule
Salary will be based on the 2026‑2027 scale, dependent on education and teaching experience. The position is 7.5 hours per day, up to 191 days per year, plus up to 3 orientation days for new employees.
