Are you passionate about helping all students learn in a collaborative environment? Downingtown Area School District invites applications for a certified school nurse for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time, permanent contracted position is located at the Marsh Creek Sixth Grade Center.

Job Summary

The Certified School Nurse (CSN) is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating the district’s health program in compliance with Pennsylvania law and district policies. The CSN delivers direct student services and collaborates with school personnel to promote a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited college or university; current Pennsylvania Registered Nurse license.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Certified School Nurse (Education Specialist) by PDE, or working toward credential with expected completion in the 2026‑2027 school year.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certification.
  • Background/experience in first aid, pediatric nursing, community health nursing, critical care nursing, medical-surgery nursing, or emergency-room nursing.
  • Knowledge of current Child Abuse Law.
  • PTC Act 48 continuing education for Nursing license and Education Specialist II certificate.
  • Compliance with PA Code of Professional Practice and Conduct for Educators, and all federal and state background and criminal record check requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive school health services program in line with PA School Code and district policies.
  • Provide direct nursing services to students, using the nursing process and current practice standards.
  • Maintain data and information in district technology programs.
  • Create and maintain effective environments for student learning.
  • Model lifelong learning by continuing professional development.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents.
  • Attend required meetings and complete reports.

Salary & Schedule

Salary scale depends on education and experience. Placement date: 2026‑2027 School Year. Schedule: 7.5 hours per day, up to 191 days per year, plus up to 3 days of orientation for new employees.
