Pay Rate: $29.67 per hour

Schedule: 7.5 hours per day, 2.5 days per week (Monday–Friday; scheduled work days TBD); 8:20 AM – 3:50 PM; 90 school days per year following board-approved calendar

About the Role

Downingtown Area School District is excited to announce an opening for a certified part‑time healthroom nurse (LPN or RN) for the 2026‑2027 school year. This position will be located at Bradford Heights Elementary.

Job Summary

The Healthroom Nurse will deliver health‑care services at Bradford Heights Elementary, with potential coverage at other district locations as needed. The position collaborates daily with the Certified School Nurse and provides care to students, staff, and faculty.

Qualifications

  • LPN or RN with a current state license
  • Accurate record‑keeping skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good clerical skills, including basic office computer skills
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification
  • Experience or knowledge of health‑care services is beneficial
  • Ability to handle medical supplies and work with infectious diseases
  • Proficiency with technology for individual and system management, communication, and research
  • Completion and maintenance of all federal and state background and criminal record‑check requirements
  • Adherence to all local, state, federal, and school code employment requirements

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Administers student care in accordance with standing orders; provides first aid for accidental injuries; handles life‑threatening emergencies; supplies medication; manages diabetes care; performs peak‑flow and nebulizer treatments as prescribed.
  • Maintains accurate health‑record documentation, including accident reports, health records for new and existing students, and daily treatment logs.
  • Maintains health‑room schedule, supplies, and clean environment; disposes of sharps and hazardous waste per district and OSH‑M guidelines.
  • Provides screening programs such as physicals, hearing tests, and eye examinations under direction of the nurse.
  • Provides health and hygiene counseling to students; supports guidance counselors and the crisis intervention team as needed.
  • Co‑ordinates with district dental hygienist for dental forms and referral transport to dental clinic.
  • Completes staff development and other tasks assigned by the Certified School Nurse.
  • Supports transition services for neuro‑divergent students (ages 16‑21) with medical needs, facilitating community‑based activities and independent‑living skill development.
