About the Role
Are you looking to kick‑start your finance career in a dynamic, purpose‑driven organisation? Downing's Energy & Infrastructure (E&I) Asset Management team is growing, and we're looking for an ambitious Accounting Analyst to join our Glasgow office. Our E&I finance team spans London, Glasgow, and Stockholm, managing financial and commercial operations for over 100 renewable energy assets, including solar, hydro, battery storage, wind, and grid technologies. Joining a team of technical specialists, ESG experts, analysts, and finance professionals, you'll play a key role in keeping our financial operations running smoothly across the UK and Nordic regions.
Responsibilities
- In this varied and hands‑on role, you'll support the Finance Operations Manager and collaborate closely with the wider Energy & Infrastructure teams to ensure accurate financial processes.
- Communication & Collaboration:
- Managing the finance team's shared inbox and ensuring timely, effective communication
- Supporting relationships with internal teams and external vendors
- Working with the Commercial Finance team to align processes across regions
- Overseeing the full cycle of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
- Handling payments, vendor settlements, and intercompany transactions
- Managing invoice routing and approval workflows
- Completing bank reconciliations and supporting VAT/tax reconciliations
- Tracking aged payables/receivables and resolving overdue items
- Supporting compliance with local accounting regulations and audits
- Helping document accounting policies, procedures, and best practices
- Preparing accurate financial data for internal reporting
- Supporting external audit processes
- Gathering inputs for annual budgets and monitoring variances
- Identifying opportunities to streamline workflows
- Helping implement new tools and automation initiatives
- Maintaining up‑to‑date process documentation
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or similar
- Up to 1 year of experience in finance or accounting
- A basic understanding of accounting principles
- Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Good organisational and time‑management skills
- A proactive attitude and eagerness to learn
