The Solar and Storage team is a dynamic and diverse group of professionals dedicated to advancing renewable energy solutions. The team includes asset management experts, investment specialists, and technical professionals who work together to optimize the performance and growth of our solar and storage assets. Our team members are located in key offices in London, Glasgow, and Stockholm, fostering a collaborative environment that leverages a wide range of expertise and perspectives.

Role and responsibilities

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Portfolio Executive to join our Solar and Storage team. Reporting to the Rooftop Portfolio Lead, the successful candidate will lead portfolio performance analysis and optimisation on the commercial and residential rooftop portfolios, manage property relationships within the residential solar portfolio and provide essential administrative support and coordination across the Solar and Storage portfolios. This role requires flexibility, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues based in London, Glasgow, and Stockholm.

  • Portfolio Performance: Oversight of KPI variance analysis and reporting. Proactive identification of performance issues through KPI analysis, resolution of incidents with contractors or third parties and implementation of technical solutions where necessary with the aim of maximizing long term performance. Direct management and performance assessment of Operations & Maintenance (O&M) contractors on contractual services and additional optimisation projects. Ensure site-specific preventative maintenance is performed in line with contracts and verify completion of corrective works.
  • Property Relationships: Receive and triage property cases, coordinating with contractors or Downing-appointed solicitors. Establish and maintain Power of Attorneys with relevant counterparts to streamline property paperwork. Act as the main point of contact for contractors and solicitors, coordinating the resolution of property-related issues (rights, amendments, legal challenges, access). Facilitate coordination between contractors and Housing Associations. Oversee the implementation of residential access issue processes with contractors, providing quarterly status updates to optimize generation and revenue collection. Main point of contact for document requests from external parties. Ensure complete and accurate record-keeping.
  • Operations Support: Onboard new acquisitions into internal systems and asset management processes. Support regulatory, health & safety, and environmental compliance and help drive safety standards onsite. Assist in project management of improvement and optimization strategies for solar and storage sites. Liaise with contractors to retrieve key ESG data. Coordinate incident tracking on internal software. Contribute to the development of management systems, improving reporting efficiency. Provide support to the wider Solar and Storage team on group objectives.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Participate in digitalisation initiatives to enhance business success. Ongoing asset register updates to ensure completion as well as data-room standardisation and migration. Occasionally travel to visit sites, contractors, and other stakeholders. Attend away days and conference/workshop events on behalf of, and within, Downing. To act as an ambassador for Downing’s values, and to always behave in a respectful and professional manner.

Education, experience and skills

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Strong organisational and coordination skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in digital tools and systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Non-essential but desirable attributes:

  • Basic electrical or renewable energy knowledge.
  • Previous experience working with rooftop solar PV systems, in either asset management or operations or other renewable energy roles.
