We are looking for a Cook to join our team at Sunflower House, where we provide a person centred, needs led service to adults with learning and/or physical disabilities.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • As our Care Home Cook, you will take the lead in preparing fresh, high quality meals tailored to each resident's dietary needs and personal preferences.
  • You will design and deliver a varied, balanced rotating menu shaped by resident feedback, while confidently catering for specialist diets including allergies, intolerances, diabetic meals, and texture modified dishes (IDDSI).
  • You will also use your expertise to prepare and serve meals safely, following all food safety and temperature guidelines to ensure every dish is both nutritious and enjoyable.

ALONGSIDE THIS, YOU WILL:

  • Maintain a clean, organised kitchen that meets all hygiene, environmental health, and infection control standards.
  • Engage with residents to understand their likes, dislikes, and cultural preferences.
  • Prepare fresh cakes, puddings, and desserts for daily service and special occasions.
  • Manage stock levels, deliveries, and ordering within agreed budgets.
  • Support and motivate support workers, promoting teamwork and a positive working environment.
  • Oversee the smooth and timely service of lunch and dinner.
  • Keep accurate records of temperatures, cleaning schedules, deliveries, and menu plans.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Proven experience as a Chef or Cook; care home or healthcare experience is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of food hygiene regulations and safe food handling.
  • Ability to plan and prepare meals for a wide range of dietary needs, including knowledge of International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative for residents who have swallowing difficulties.
  • A caring, approachable attitude.
