Downey Osborne is looking for an Accounting Manager to join a leading business advisory setting. This is a hands-on role where you’ll lead complex accounting work across a wide range of portfolios, with autonomy, variety, and the opportunity to shape junior colleagues’ development.

About You

  • ACA or ACCA qualified (or international equivalent)
  • Strong technical accounting skills with ability to work from first principles
  • Around 3 years post-qualification experience
  • Confident preparing and reviewing detailed financial statements and management accounts
  • Experienced supervising, coaching, and developing junior team members
  • Skilled in multiple accounting processes, reconciliations, and reporting
  • Highly professional, adaptable, and effective in a remote environment
  • Strong working knowledge of local and international accounting standards, with awareness of alternative frameworks (UK GAAP/US GAAP/IFRS)

About Your Role

  • Lead preparation and review of management accounts and detailed financial statements across multiple portfolios
  • Provide meaningful insight and variance analysis to guide decision-making
  • Ensure accounting compliance, financial controls, and reporting standards are consistently applied
  • Mentor and support junior colleagues, acting as a senior presence across assignments

  • Oversee day-to-day bookkeeping, reconciliations, and client-focused accounting tasks
  • Participate in temporary assignments or secondments as required
