Downey Osborne is delighted to be working with a company who is seeking an Assistant Accountant to support the finance function on a permanent basis. This position offers a condensed working week & is based in Newtownabbey.

About You:

  • Experience in: Part-qualified ACA, ACCA, or CIMA (actively studying and progressing)
  • Recent experience in a fast-paced finance environment
  • Excellent organisational skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Strong communication abilities, both verbal and written
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and familiar with accounting software
  • A proactive and adaptable mindset, capable of prioritising tasks effectively
  • Ability to work independently and within a team

About Your New Role:

  • Calculate and process accruals and prepayments
  • Maintain fixed asset and intercompany accounts
  • Prepare month-end reconciliations and assist with management accounts
  • Support VAT returns and yearly financial statement activities
  • Assist with audit preparations, budget setting, and forecasting
  • Oversight of payroll function and collating data
  • Assist in monitoring financial controls and system updates
  • Report building, preparation and maintenance
  • Uphold health & safety policies and contribute to a positive, inclusive workplace environment
