Downey Osborne is partnering with a leading organisation to recruit an experienced Assistant Accountant on a 9-month fixed term contract.

About You:

  • Previous experience in an accounts or finance support role, or a relevant finance qualification/placement
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Confident using accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
  • Good communication skills with the ability to liaise across teams
  • Organised, proactive, and able to manage workload effectively

About Your New Role:

  • Process invoices, payments, and credit notes accurately and on time
  • Support bank, supplier, and account reconciliations
  • Assist with month-end close and reporting processes
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
  • Liaise with internal teams to resolve queries and ensure data accuracy
  • Support payroll-related and wider finance activities
  • Assist colleagues across the finance function as required
  • Produce ad-hoc financial reports and summaries
  • Support improvements to finance processes and systems
  • Assist with additional accounting or administrative tasks as needed

  • Let small errors slip through and hope they balance themselves out
  • Treat reconciliations as optional when the month gets busy
