Dowds Group are seeking a Business Development Manager to be based from our London office to build on its impressive pipeline of secured work and take the company through its next phase of growth. This is a key role within the Group’s work winning team and will purposefully drive sustainable progression in line with our strategic plans. Principally focusing on generating pipeline information within our core focus sectors in London, Cambridge, Oxford, Birmingham, Manchester and surrounding towns, the ideal candidate will have the passion and commercial acumen to enable the realisation of Group’s potential through a values-driven, customer-centric approach.
The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:
- Generate pipeline information within our core focus sectors in London, Cambridge, Oxford, Birmingham, Manchester and surrounding towns
- Update and maintain pipeline documentation on a weekly basis
- Review and report on opportunities nationally across key awarding authorities
- Develop knowledge of specific client operations, culture and contractor preferences and use this knowledge to enhance our competitiveness
- Develop and sustain effective working relationships with Project Managers, Project Quantity Surveyors, M&E Consultants, Architects and end clients
- Build pipeline picture aligned to our Group strategy
- Update and maintain critical project data
- Attend Group sales meetings as required
- Lead on client relationships
- Develop strategic partnerships and attend business networking opportunities
- Collaborate with other departments including the Communications and Bid teams
- Contribute, innovate and add value to our Business Development approach
- Adapt to requirements of the role in a high paced environment
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Demonstrable track record of successfully engaging with Tier 1 companies
- Previous experience as a Business Development Manager (ideally in the construction industry but this sector is not essential)
- Experience in utilising a CRM system
- Good IT skills, including MS PowerPoint
- Articulate and confident communicator in a range of environments
- Self-motivated approach
