The Propositions team is responsible for growing Dow Jones’ portfolio of B2B products.

Working closely with Proposition, Product Management, Marketing and other stakeholders the function is responsible for exploring and delivering a series of new propositions to market.

Position Summary

As part of the wider Risk & Research Proposition team, the Customer & Market Research team (C&MR) helps deliver the key customer and market insights the various stakeholder teams need to drive growth.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake customer and market research covering end-to-end propositions design, from market analysis, to working directly with CMR team members to support business and proposition leaders on business case development.
  • Represent the voice of the customer at senior leadership level to ensure that customer and market intelligence is at the heart of decision-making on a day-to-day basis.

This includes championing customer and market research, challenging plans that are not customer-focused, and proposing research solutions that meet customer needs and drive profitability.

  • Develop strong working relationships within the CMR team and other functions at all levels across the business to deliver tailored and relevant insights.
  • Deliver customer and market research projects from briefing through design to execution, including recruitment, fieldwork management, interviews, reporting, QA, analysis and reporting—independently or as part of a working group using a wide range of methodologies.
  • Undertake desk research and ensure insights are appropriately synthesized.
  • Liaise with external partners such as research agencies or tool providers to ensure work is world-class, aligns with internal standards, and delivers value for money.

Engagement with third-parties will be under the direction of the team leader.

  • Support workflow, workload planning and budget management for the CMR team lead.
  • Ensure workload aligns with team objectives and actively share insights, delivering presentations, debriefs, and workshops across the business.
  • Act as an ambassador for world-class research methodologies and educate the wider organization on key initiatives.
  • Attributes & Experience
  • Ability to learn quickly, solve problems creatively, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Thorough understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and their appropriate use.

Hands-on qualitative researcher with experience designing discussion guides in a B2B setting.

Some familiarity with Qualtrics or similar platforms for surveys.

  • Experience performing desk research and obtaining insights from publicly available information and news sources.
  • Flexibility in responding to changing business priorities and requirements.
  • Proven track record of delivering results in a matrix organization.
  • Willing to work a minimum of 3 days a week in the London office and comfortable in a remote working environment with influence from a distance.
  • Solid experience in customer and market research including project management and delivering credible insights.
  • Ability to manage projects and deadlines effectively and independently.
  • Excellent numeracy and literacy skills, with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong presentation skills, storytelling ability, and the capacity to make complex data easy to understand.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace (Sheets, Slides).
  • At least 4 years of direct experience in the market research industry, in-house or agency-side.
  • Experience conducting research and managing research teams in B2B markets, ideally within the media, information & data sectors.
