About the Role: An intern working on Dragonfly’s Sub-Saharan Africa desk. This team delivers content on the region for the Security Intelligence and Analysis Service (SIAS), which provides anticipatory security and strategic intelligence for global businesses and international organisations. The team comprises three analysts who are London-based. Your primary responsibility is to assist the analysts in the production of political and security risk assessments. This is a full-time (40 hours a week), fixed-term position, based in London. As with all our roles, our hybrid working policy applies, which means you must be in the office for 3 days per week.
You Will:
- Conduct high quality open source research, monitoring and data gathering, including qualifying sources and validating information, in support of SIAS reports or briefings.
- Stay abreast of security and geopolitical trends across Sub-Saharan Africa and share updates with the team as needed.
- Use, develop and maintain our monitoring resources, specifically data feeds and open source networks.
- Be proactive in taking on day-to-day operational tasks and ensuring team delivery demands are met.
- Deliver high-quality project work within agreed timescales, seeking guidance where required.
- Develop expertise in assessing security risks, allowing you to monitor, identify and report on security and geopolitical risks to professionals and businesses.
- Depending on team requirements, assist in the production of reports or briefs covering other geographical regions.
You Have:
- Completed at least two years of college level study
- Excellent research, editorial and drafting skills
- An ability to provide written research accurately, clearly and concisely.
- Knowledge of or an interest in political, economic, and international affairs in Sub-Saharan Africa
- Exceptional verbal and written communication English language proficiency with other language skills being a plus
- Basic Python, HTML and/or SQL expertise is a plus
