The Trust at The Wall Street Journal | Barron’s Group is a fast-growing team of energetic writers, content and creative strategists, designers, editors and developers. The work spans a variety of forms—short- and long-form reported articles, immersive digital experiences, documentary videos, data visualizations, animations and more. This is an on-site full-time position in London that will work across various clients and in-house brands including The Wall Street Journal, WSJ. Magazine, Barron’s and more. The International team spans industry sectors and regions, covering client stories across Europe, South America, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific.

The Audio & Video Lead will report to the Executive Director of International Content and work with a team of project managers, creative directors, editors and freelance vendors. They will work across multiple teams of internal & external stakeholders to devise and manage production as well as assess feasibility in pre-sale across video, audio and event partnership programs. The role will involve conceptualizing ideas, scripting, storyboarding, shooting, editing and post-production for film, audio, event and infographic-led projects. This role requires a strong background in multimedia production, excellent technical skills and a creative mindset. Crucial to this role is the ability to take initiative and problem-solve across creative, logistics and technical needs.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Drive the production of the highest quality original creative content and narratives.
  • Work on revenue-earning campaigns across the International market.
  • Contribute to the pitching of creative ideas regularly and in response to briefs and price accordingly.
  • Strategize new and effective solutions for client asks and products.
  • Build and develop a strong external network of freelancers, agencies and directors to cover our various commissioned works.
  • Be aware of market prices and negotiate and challenge where necessary.
  • Oversee the casting and feasibility of talent inclusion across our stories.
  • Own the communication with all stakeholders to manage audio, video and event partnership projects from end-to-end.
  • Ensure visual/audio quality and accuracy of details are paramount throughout.
  • Ensure assets are produced in alignment with performance best practices.
  • Define, manage and develop projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Manage multiple production jobs at the same time from concept, hiring, project planning, directors, casting, and post-production.
  • Manage the internal relationship with our legal team to ensure we have appropriate contracts & licensing within international legal boundaries.
  • Lead on-set production and pre-production prep e.g. pre-interviews, talent expectation management, collaborate on storyboarding etc.

10+ years of experience in a busy multimedia production role is desirable. Technical video or audio editing experience is an advantage. Must be willing to travel internationally for short (max 1 week) periods.

Essential Skills & Requirements

  • An experienced, creative video producer with a strong knowledge of luxury, travel, finance, CPG, Tech and TMT, in both editorial and branded content.
  • A brimming contacts book of global directors, production and crew, aligned to the standard of the Wall Street Journal brand.
  • Experience negotiating with production and talent representatives.
  • A strategic thinker with a strong knowledge and understanding of the global digital state of play for the video, audio and event landscape.
  • Highly self-motivated, problem solver and willing to go the extra mile.
  • Knowledge and understanding of copyright legislation and contractual processes.
  • A proven track record in high-level creative concepts.
  • Experience of working with creative and commercial teams and managing expectations all round in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent project management skills & interpersonal skills. An enthusiastic, organised and personable team player.
  • Knowledge of cameras, lighting, sound and post-production skills.
