Dow Jones is expanding its commercial footprint internationally. To support this exciting phase of growth, we are hiring a Senior People Business Partner. In this role, you will partner closely with the EVP of Risk and work alongside our sales leaders to drive impact across the commercial organization. You will lead and develop a team of two People Business Partners, serve as a role model, and ensure a people-first approach that enables business success. You will combine commercial acumen with high emotional intelligence and a strong sense of humour to influence, challenge convention, and embed positive change. This role reports into the VP People (EMEA / APAC) with a dotted line to our Director PBP in NYC HQ.
The global People team is collaborative and values diverse opinions, skills, and perspectives. The People Business Partner team works together for the greater good, sharing expertise, experience, and ideas to support each other and engage our global Centres of Excellence. The team acts as client-centric strategic partners aligning with Dow Jones commercial goals to drive excellent outcomes. Our London office consists of 20 People team members representing functions including talent acquisition, employee operations, learning & development, business partnering, compensation, global mobility, benefits, and health & safety. We are growing and focused on positively enhancing the employee experience while supporting business objectives.
You Will:
- Set clear goals and objectives to align with business priorities and act as a strategic partner to stakeholders.
- Develop an in-depth understanding of the businesses you support, providing guidance on employee engagement, retention, performance planning, employee relations, career development, employee metrics, succession planning, and organizational transformation.
- Work across global organizations and time zones, bridging cultural differences and advocating for employees in a matrixed environment.
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion personally and programmatically across all areas of the employee lifecycle.
- Demonstrate the ability to manage ambiguity and resolve issues without a formal process or system in place.
- Communicate openly and transparently, assuming good intent and providing honest constructive feedback when needed.
- Stay connected with Global PBPs, ensuring alignment and visibility across EMEA client group activities.
- Take initiative, elevate when appropriate, and continuously learn from challenges to drive impactful outcomes.
- Deliver on commitments thoughtfully and reliably, building trusted relationships with business leaders and colleagues.
- Collaborate with the Labor Relations & Employee Relations Manager in Barcelona, supporting the UK News Union and regional Workers Council.
- Contribute to the creation of HR policies, practices, and systems that attract, retain, and mobilize talent, support business priorities, and comply with collective bargaining agreements.
- Champion a culture of trust, collaboration, and recognition of excellence within the team.
You Have:
- Demonstrable experience in human resources, preferably in commercial or sales-driven environments.
- Experience supporting high-performing commercial groups and partnering with Reward functions to manage incentive plans and performance linked to revenue creation.
- A proven track record of contributing to the creation or expansion of best practices.
- Credibility, integrity, and the ability to act as a trusted thought partner while balancing business partnering with employee advocacy.
- Experience with employee relations processes, workplace investigations, and performance management.
- Knowledge of country-specific employment and labour laws across the EMEA region with experience supporting global HR teams.
- Strong collaboration, coaching, and counselling skills.
- Ability to leverage data and analytics to develop actionable recommendations; experience adopting AI tools into HR processes is advantageous.
- Comfort working under pressure, proactively managing sensitive employee issues, and being a reliable team player.
