OPIS, a Dow Jones company, is seeking an energetic, driven and resourceful Associate Reporter to cover the European refined products markets. This is an entry-level role to join the pricing team for OPIS Europe, where you will be trained on how to produce price assessments, news and analysis for daily publication.
You Will:
- Accumulate spot market price transactions from industry participants via instant messaging, phone, and email.
- Verify the legitimacy of the transactions and adhere to OPIS pricing methodology to create daily price assessments.
- Develop and cultivate a range of industry sources.
- Produce stories for our real-time news service as well as longer, more analytical content focusing on industry trends and emerging issues.
- Contribute to the production of webinars and podcasts.
- Support the regional and global team in promoting price assessments to the marketplace to allow them to be accepted and used as benchmark references.
- Occasional travel to industry events and client engagement.
You Have:
- 0-2 years of experience.
- Strong communication, writing, and networking skills, with the ability to work under tight deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated interest in the commodity markets, though you should have the curiosity and willingness to learn about industry trends and be able to break down sometimes complex regulatory and market issues into accurate and easily understood content.
- Ability to engage with external stakeholders.
- Ability to analyze data and market drivers quickly.
- Good knowledge of Excel and spreadsheets.
- Experience in Power BI or coding language such as Python would be beneficial.
- Additional languages would be beneficial.
