Overview
As Government Affairs Manager in London, you will monitor and influence UK/EU regulatory developments affecting Dow Jones’ data services and media policy. You will advocate on files such as AI, AML, sanctions, and privacy regimes, while coordinating with regulators and cross‑functional teams. Your work shapes regulatory strategy, informs product and client needs, and supports media freedom initiatives. This is a strategic role at the intersection of policy, technology, and energy policy with meaningful impact.

Responsibilities
- Advocacy & engagement: represent Dow Jones to UK/EU institutions and build a network of regulators, industry groups, and think tanks, in coordination with News Corp GA team.
- Regulatory analysis: lead assessment of legislative files like EU AI Act, UK Digital Information and Smart Data Bill, DORA, and AML/sanctions developments.
- Strategic advisory: deliver actionable regulatory insights to senior leadership on impact to business, products, and client needs.
- Policy positioning: draft position papers, consultation responses, and leadership briefs.
- Trade associations: manage Dow Jones’ participation in industry groups to amplify policy priorities.
- Energy sector monitoring: track UK/EU energy policy and carbon market regulations to support energy information and pricing divisions.
Key requirements
- 5–8 years in government relations, public affairs, or regulatory roles within financial services, data tech, or media sectors.
- Deep understanding of UK/EU legislative processes.
- Experience with AML, sanctions, AI governance, AI, Copyright or Data Privacy is essential.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication; ability to translate complex regulatory language into concise briefings.
- Existing network in London or Brussels policy circles is highly desirable.
- Adaptability to manage a diverse portfolio across digital regulations and energy policy.
