Are you an emotionally intelligent, relational professional who wants to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people facing barriers to education?
About the Role
Working within SEMH department at a further education provider, you'll provide trauma-informed, therapeutic and coaching-based support to learners aged 16-25 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, autism, communication and interaction differences, learning difficulties, and other barriers to education. This is not a traditional support role. As a Learning Mentor, you'll act as a key worker, building positive and trusting relationships that support learners' emotional wellbeing, self-regulation, independence, and readiness to learn.
You'll work within a specialist therapeutic education provision, applying trauma-informed approaches with maturity, empathy and professionalism. You'll work collaboratively with families, staff and external professionals to enable learners to engage in education, develop skills for adulthood, achieve their individual outcomes, and progress towards meaningful next steps.
This is a contract role providing cover up until the winter break.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Acting as a key worker for learners aged 16-25 with SEMH needs, autism and learning difficulties.
