About the Role
A further education provider in the North West is looking for a Vocational Trainer in Plumbing to deliver practical workshop and classroom theory sessions to learners working towards their plumbing qualifications.
You'll bring your industry knowledge into the workshop, guiding learners through the technical skills, standards and working practices employers expect on site. Clear structure and consistent guidance go a long way here — learners respond well to a trainer who sets the standard and sticks to it.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering engaging practical and theory sessions across plumbing programmes.
- Planning, preparing and assessing learning activities to support learner progression and achievement.
- Assessing learner progress, marking work and giving constructive feedback.
- Maintaining a safe workshop environment and high standards of health and safety.
- Keeping accurate records for registers, attendance and awarding body requirements.
- Contributing to curriculum development so that content reflects current industry standards.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Strong industry experience as a qualified plumber
- A relevant plumbing qualification, such as NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing or equivalent
- Good practical knowledge of current industry standards and working practices
- Clear communication skills and the ability to motivate learners of varying abilities
Desirable (but not essential):
- A teaching, training or assessing qualification, or experience of delivering training
- Experience of working with apprentices or learners in a further education setting
You don't need to have taught before. If you have the trade behind you and the patience to pass it on, support is available to gain a teaching or assessor qualification.
