We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Senior Speech and Language Therapist to join a dedicated SEND team supporting children and young people with complex communication and learning needs within specialist educational settings.

Role Responsibilities

  • Independently manage a highly specialist caseload of students with complex speech, language, communication, and learning needs.
  • Deliver specialist assessments, formulate therapy plans, and provide tailored individual and group interventions.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary SEND team to support EHCP Reviews, ILPs, and wider therapeutic strategies.
  • Support the SENDCo with the strategic development of speech and language provision across the organisation.
  • Provide specialist advice, mentoring, and supervision to junior therapists and wider staff teams.
  • Deliver training and workshops for teachers, parents, carers, and professionals on speech and language strategies and interventions.
  • Work closely with families, education staff, and external agencies to ensure holistic support for students.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and assessments in line with professional and safeguarding standards.
  • Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical governance activities.
  • Support safeguarding and promote the welfare and wellbeing of all students.

Essential Requirements

  • Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree qualification.
  • HCPC registered.
  • Member of the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists (RCSLT).
  • Experience working with children and young people with EHCPs within educational or specialist settings.
  • Strong understanding of autism spectrum conditions, SEMH, attachment difficulties, and complex communication needs.
  • Experience delivering speech and language interventions and specialist assessments.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with external agencies and families.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and report-writing skills.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.

Desirable Requirements

  • Previous experience within CAMHS, ASC, SEMH, or specialist school settings.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff or students.
  • Postgraduate qualification or additional specialist training.
  • Experience delivering staff training and contributing to service development initiatives.
