Dovetail and Slate are recruiting on behalf of a leading education provider based in Manchester. This is a term-time only role, starting in September 2026.
Job Purpose
Support young people with SEND, SEMH, and ASD to understand their options and plan their next steps. Provide clear careers advice around further study, university, apprenticeships, training, work, or supported adult pathways. Work with students, families, staff, and external providers to help each young person move into a positive destination.
Main Duties
- Provide 1:1 careers guidance tailored to each student's strengths, interests, needs, and future goals.
- Help students with CVs, applications, interviews, personal statements, UCAS, and next-step planning.
- Arrange visits, employer talks, careers events, work-related learning, and transition activities.
- Build links with employers, universities, training providers, sixth forms, and other education providers.
- Contribute to EHCP reviews, transition plans, and multi-agency meetings where needed.
- Keep accurate records of guidance, destinations, progress, and outcomes for reporting and improvement.
Requirements
- Able to start in September 2026.
- Qualified careers advisor, ideally Level 6 or above.
- Experience giving careers guidance to young people.
- Understanding of SEND, SEMH, ASD, and the barriers some learners face.
- Knowledge of further study, university, apprenticeships, training, and employment routes.
- Organised, supportive, and confident working with students, families, staff, and external partners.
