A leading Further Education college group is seeking to appoint an exceptional Assistant Principal - High Needs, SEND & Additional Learning Support to provide strategic leadership across a growing and ambitious SEND and inclusive learning provision. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior leader to shape the future direction of High Needs, SEND and Additional Learning Support services across a large multi-campus organisation.

Working as part of the executive leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in driving quality, growth, innovation and learner success whilst ensuring outstanding inclusive practice and compliance across all areas of provision.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Executive Principal, you will provide strategic leadership and accountability for the design, development and delivery of SEND, High Needs and Additional Learning Support provision. You will lead the implementation of a cohesive organisation-wide strategy that supports learner achievement, progression and positive destinations whilst responding to increasing demand for specialist provision. You will work closely with Local Authorities, funding bodies and external stakeholders to strengthen partnerships, maximise opportunities for growth and position the organisation as a leading provider of inclusive education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic development of SEND, High Needs and Additional Learning Support provision across multiple campuses
  • Drive organisational growth, innovation and service transformation
  • Lead relationships with Local Authorities and commissioning partners
  • Ensure high-quality learner support, achievement and progression outcomes
  • Oversee High Needs funding strategies and funding growth opportunities
  • Lead safeguarding, health and safety and risk management within specialist provision
  • Ensure full compliance with statutory requirements and inspection readiness
  • Champion inclusive practice and continuous improvement across the organisation
  • Lead and develop high-performing multidisciplinary teams

About You

We are seeking an inspirational and strategic leader who can demonstrate:

  • Degree-level qualification
  • Full teaching qualification recognised within the Further Education sector
  • Significant senior leadership experience within SEND, High Needs and/or Additional Learning Support
  • Proven experience leading large-scale or multi-site provision
  • Experience of organisational change, strategic transformation or service redesign
  • Strong understanding of High Needs funding and Local Authority commissioning
  • Experience of safeguarding leadership and risk management
  • Successful involvement in Ofsted inspection preparation and delivery, ideally as a High Needs lead
  • Excellent stakeholder management and partnership-building skills
  • A passion for inclusive education and improving learner outcomes
