I am representing a college in Leeds that are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Digital Lecturer to deliver BTEC Level 3 programmes in Computing and Data Science to Further Education learners (aged 16-18 learners). You will play a key role in inspiring students and developing their skills in programming, IT systems, and data analysis, preparing them for higher education or careers in the digital sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality teaching across Level 3 BTEC Computing and Data Science
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons in:
  • Programming (e.g. Python, C#, or similar)
  • IT systems and networking
  • Data analysis and data science fundamentals
  • Assess student work in line with BTEC assessment criteria
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to support learner progress
  • Track and monitor student performance, attendance, and engagement
  • Support students with academic and pastoral needs
  • Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement
  • Maintain accurate records in line with awarding body and college requirements
  • Participate in team meetings, standardisation, and quality assurance processes
  • Essential Requirements

    • Degree (or equivalent) in Computing, Data Science, IT, or a related field
    • Strong knowledge of:
    • Programming (e.g. Python, Java, or C#)
    • IT systems and/or networking
    • Data handling and analysis
  • Experience teaching or training in a relevant subject area (or strong industry experience with a willingness to teach)
  • Understanding of BTEC Level 3 qualifications or similar frameworks
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing
  • Desirable

    • Teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, CertEd, or DET)
    • Experience delivering BTEC Computing or Data Science
    • Industry experience in software development, IT, or data-related roles
    • Knowledge of tools such as: SQL, Excel, Power BI, or similar
    • Version control (e.g. Git)
    • Experience working with 16-19 learners in an FE setting
