Dovetail and Slate are recruiting on behalf of a leading education provider based in Huddersfield. This is a term-time only role, starting in September 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead safeguarding and ensure pupils feel safe, supported, and listened to.
- Support children and young people with SEND, SEMH, trauma, or complex needs.
- Work with staff, families, senior leaders, and outside agencies to improve safety, wellbeing, attendance, and engagement.
- Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, managing safeguarding concerns, referrals, child protection records, risk assessments, and multi-agency communication.
- Build a strong safeguarding culture by training staff, providing guidance, spotting early warning signs, and ensuring concerns are dealt with quickly and properly.
- Monitor attendance, identify patterns or concerns, and create practical support plans to help pupils re-engage.
- Provide pastoral support to pupils who may be dysregulated, anxious, vulnerable, or struggling with behaviour, transition, or emotional needs.
- Work with SEND, pastoral, therapeutic, family support, and external professionals to create joined-up plans for pupils with complex needs.
- Support senior leaders with safeguarding reports, policy updates, staff development, attendance planning, and wider wellbeing priorities.
Requirements:
- Strong safeguarding experience.
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, SEMH, trauma, or complex needs.
- Confident in handling concerns, referrals, records, risk assessments, and working with outside agencies.
- Calm, organised, professional, and able to guide staff with safeguarding and pastoral support.
