I'm currently supporting a fantastic college that is looking to appoint an experienced Payroll & Pensions Manager to join their HR and Finance function. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone with strong payroll and pensions expertise who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and taking ownership of a critical function within the organisation.

What you'll be doing:

  • Managing the end-to-end monthly payroll process, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time
  • Overseeing pension processes including LGPS, Teachers' Pensions and Auto Enrolment
  • Submitting payroll reports, FPS/EPS returns and year-end payroll duties
  • Monitoring payroll workflows and ensuring compliance with statutory regulations
  • Acting as the main point of contact for payroll and pension queries
  • Managing and developing payroll processes within the iTrent HR/Payroll system
  • Producing payroll forecasting reports and supporting management accounts
  • Line managing the Payroll/HR Administrator and supporting their development
  • Ensuring payroll procedures remain compliant with current legislation and best practice

What we're looking for:

  • Previous payroll management experience within a medium to large organisation
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, pensions, PAYE and National Insurance
  • Experience using complex HR/payroll systems, ideally iTrent (MHR)
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to work
  • Payroll or pensions qualifications such as CIPP or AAT are highly desirable
