Learning Support Assistant

Contract | Term-Time Only | Full Time or Part Time

Location: the North West

Salary: Β£17.50 per hour

Start date: As soon as possible

Are you a compassionate and adaptable professional who believes every learner deserves a pathway to independence?

About the Role

You'll join a further education provider in the North West as a Learning Support Assistant, supporting students with additional learning needs through to the end of the academic year in June 2027. Whether you're experienced in supporting high-needs learners or more used to general classroom assistance, there's a place for your expertise here.

This is about more than classroom support. You'll be a key point of support for your learners, blending patience with strategy to help them master the skills they need for life beyond college. Hours are flexible, with full-time and part-time options available, and the provider will build a working timetable around your commitments.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting learners with special educational needs on a one-to-one, in-class or out-of-class basis to help them progress towards their EHCP milestones, developmental goals and vocational aspirations.
  • Working closely with teaching staff to differentiate and adapt curriculum resources, including supporting learners during practical sessions and community-based trips.
  • Completing administrative tasks related to tracking and recording learner progress.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Level 2 English and Maths (GCSE or equivalent)
  • A compassionate, adaptable approach to supporting learners with additional needs
  • Willingness to undergo a DBS check (you'll have time to obtain one before your start date)

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Experience supporting high-needs learners
  • Experience in a post-16 or SEND setting

What We Offer

  • Term-time only, strictly Monday to Friday, with no weekend or evening shifts
  • Full-time or part-time hours, built around your personal commitments
  • Collaboration with expert practitioners and dedicated 1:1 support from your specialist consultant throughout your placement
  • Valuable post-16 SEND experience, ideal for future educators, therapists or social workers
  • Access to free CPD training

If you're ready to help learners build the confidence and independence to reach their goals, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today.
