Are you an empathetic, patient and tech-savvy support professional who believes every young person deserves an equitable pathway to independence?

About the Role

A further education provider in the East of England is looking for a Learning Support Mentor to join its engineering, science and computing department. You'll work alongside lecturing staff and specialist teams to support learners with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities, including Autistic Spectrum Disorders, D/deaf learners, physical access needs, visual impairments and speech or language needs, so they can access STEM and technical curricula fully.

You'll help build the confidence and independence that allows learners to thrive, adapting your support to each individual both inside and outside the classroom.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with lecturing staff to adapt classroom resources responsively, including enlarging text, modifying carrier language and using enabling technologies.
  • Supporting students with reading, note-taking, word processing and metacognitive skill development both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Empowering young people to achieve their personalised learning outcomes.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • An empathetic, patient and tech-savvy approach to supporting learners
  • Confidence working alongside lecturing staff and specialist teams to adapt resources and support strategies
  • A genuine belief that every young person deserves an equitable pathway to independence

What We Offer

  • A true work-life balance with a term-time-only structure (38 weeks per year)
  • Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS)
  • The chance to work within high-spec technical environments, supporting students across engineering, IT, computing and science pathways
  • Continuous professional development, including support qualifications, moving and handling, and assistive technology coaching

If you're ready to help learners access STEM and technical curricula with confidence, we'd love to hear from you.
